Week 4 - Moni
This was a pretty busy week in lab. I've spent a bit of time imaging mouse cadavers with the multiphoton microscope to practice second harmonic generation imaging. I'm still having problems with spacing and alignment on the microscope, so I've spent some time designing a new holder for the mouse in AutoCAD, which has also resulted in me finally learning how to use AutoCAD. I've also collected more surgical discards of tendon and cultured cells, so that I will have my first round of analysis on the flow cytometer next week. WCMC has a nice flow cytometry core here, and I've gotten some tips on how to improve my experimental plan. In spare time, I've also practiced some surgeries on mouse rotator cuff impingement using the Rodeo Lab technique. I'm amazed at the dexterity and finesse required to do these mouse surgeries. I spent Wednesday and Friday shadowing Dr. Rodeo's procedures. One of the patients was a bodybuilder and it was incredible to see just how big his tendons were compared to the tendons I usually work with. #gainz
I spent the weekend eating Korean BBQ, exploring the FIT exhibits, and walking around the Financial District and piers. I did finally see Hamilton....'s gravesite in Trinity Church.

I took the bus back to the Upper East Side from there, and being above ground and driving back was cool because I got to see a lot of landmarks that I can't see when I take the underground subway. On Cow Appreciation Day, a few of us dressed up as cows and got free Chick-Fil-A and free 7/11 slushies.
